Every month, Las Vegas YMF (LV YMF) comes together for luncheon in which we invite local professionals to present projects they have worked on. This month, we started the year off by welcoming Dale Keller from NDOT to speak about Environmental Challenges faced with the Boulder City Bypass Project. His presentation included many challenges but his primary focus was of naturally occurring asbestos (NOA). Dale discussed how the presence of NOA was introduced to the engineers and what steps were taken to mitigate the situation, including adopting standards used by Caltrans and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The presentation was enjoyed by more than 55 attendees representing more than 20 different companies, from government agencies to private consulting firms.
Thank you Dale for an awesome presentation! Thank you CH2MHILL for sponsoring this months luncheon and thank you to ATKINS for being gracious hosts and allowing us to hold our luncheon at your office.

Together with the UNLV Student Chapter, LV YMF was able to gather a group of 27 to attend the UNLV vs UNR basketball game and help cheer on the running rebels. Both students and younger were able to enjoy a few beers, grab some food, and cheer their heart out as the Runnin' Rebels protected their home court. Unfortunately the game came down to the wire and UNLV loss to a last minute shot by the Wolfpack. Still LV YMF went home with coarse voices and pride for our home team.
