Name/Title/Company/No. of Years in the Industry
How has ASCE impacted your work and/or what is your favorite benefit of your involvement?
I am an ASCE YMF Member because...
What has been your favorite ASCE event since you got involved?
I am not super active in ASCE events due to other responsibilities and commitments, but I have really enjoyed attending the joint ASCE/APWA Christmas Luncheon each year. It is always nice to catch up with colleagues that I would not otherwise see in a fun atmosphere.
What person, living or dead, would you most like to meet?
If I could travel in time, I would love to meet Julius Caesar at the height of the Roman Empire. I have always been fascinated with his rise to power and the period in history in which he ruled.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be?
I was always the kid building things with Lego's, blocks, erector sets, model rockets, you name it. I had actually seriously considered becoming an architect for most my childhood. I realized that I am not very artistic, and was more interested in how things work instead of how they look. So I became an engineer instead.
What technical project have you worked on and/or technical skill would you like to highlight and let our members know about you?
I am a part of the Kimley-Horn Transportation Design Team. Our projects are not usually glamorous or flashy. The best jobs that we complete is the one that no one notices or talks about once complete. That being said, I am skilled in roadway geometric design. Most recently I have been focused on ADA/PROWAG compliance and enhanced pedestrian crossing design.
Tell us an interesting fact about you!
My greatest accomplishment to date is my 4 kids (ages 10, 8, 7 and 4). Also, I am a 3rd generation Civil Engineer. Both my father and grandfather preceded me in an engineering career.
