Math Night 2015

ASCE YMF and NSPE collaborated with Ruth Fyfe Elementary School’s Math and Science Family Night where kids learned engineering principles through hands on activities. YMF and NSPE hosted three stations: Spaghetti Tower, Hoop Glider, and Pop Fly. The parents and teachers were amazed that simple materials like pasta noodles and marshmallows in Spaghetti Tower and straws and paper in Hoop Glider can be used to teach kids engineering. At the end of the night, YMF members gave a presentation where kids learned the basic definition of an engineer: problem solver! Overall, it was a very fun event and ASCE YMF and NSPE were happy to help!
